A postcard, postdated April 14, 1909, bearing a message in L.M. Montgomery's handwriting addressed to "Mr. Geo. B. MacMillan". George Boyd MacMillan (1881-1953) was a Scottish journalist and writer, and a favourite correspondent of L.M. Montgomery. The two were first introduced, by letter, in 1903, through an American writer who was developing a circle of literary pen friends. Although Montgomery and MacMillan only met briefly in-person, during her 1911 honeymoon in Scotland, their voluminous exchange of letters, postcards, and gifts continued until late 1941, just months before Montgomery's death. PARTIAL TRANSCRIPT: "[Good?] for daffodils? Your springs are a month earlier than ours. Rec'd your letter. Will write sooner than you deserve and will advise [as to?] further [treatment?] of daffodils, Meanwhile leave it alone. L.M.M." Handwritten message on front of card reads: "Wouldn't you like to lie and dream among the buttercups and daises?"
