- Abstract

Former owner: L.M. Montgomery. Provenance: research by donor has verified that volume was owned by L.M. Montgomery and later owned by her son Chester Cameron Macdonald. There is an inscription inside that reads: "L.M. Montgomery Macdonald 1930" with a small cat drawing. The date of the inscription means that she would have been living at the Norval Manse in Ontario. There is another inscription below that reads: "Cameron Macdonald Toronto, Ont, May 25/42". This inscription was made after the death of L.M. Montgomery in Toronto April 24, 1942. Cameron Macdonald is Chester Cameron Macdonald who was the elder son of Montgomery. He "helped himself" to books and papers belonging to his mother after her death before her younger son Stuart Macdonald was able to change door locks on the Toronto house. Some discolouration of the endpapers, fading of cloth, tears long the spine. Bound with blue cloth, black lettering. Eight pages of advertisements for new novels from Hodder and Stoughton Ltd. are at the end of the book.
