- Abstract
-
An article about the nature surrounding Cavendish, P.E.I. and L.M. Montgomery's love of nature. "Anne of Green Gables" is mentioned throughout as well as quotes from various works by Montgomery. The large Japanese fan-base is included with mention of the 1979 anime adaptation Akage no An. The anime was directed by Isao Takahata and the scene setting and layout was done by Hayao Miyazaki who would later go on to found Studio Ghibli together. Donald Harron, one of the creators of the "Anne of Green Gables" musical, is quoted in the article making a comment on why "Anne of Green Gables" has such a large Japanese fan-base. The development of Prince Edward Island National Park is included with Montgomery's thoughts on the idea.
