newspaper
Newspaper clipping of poem entitled "Twilight in an Old Farm House" by L.M. Montgomery that she sent to George Boyd MacMillan. George Boyd MacMillan (1881-1953) was a Scottish journalist and writer, and a favourite correspondent of L.M. Montgomery. The two were first introduced, by letter, in 1903, through an American writer who was developing a circle of literary pen friends. Although Montgomery and MacMillan only met briefly in-person, during her 1911 honeymoon in Scotland, their voluminous exchange of letters, postcards, and gifts continued until late 1941, just months before Montgomery's death. The newspaper reprinted the poem from "The Congregationalist" newspaper in Boston, Mass.
